San Juan Capistrano, CA – Upon the conclusion of the Blenheim Red, White & Blue Classic, Romfh Leading Hunter Rider Awards were presented to hunter riders who had accumulated the most points on their highest placed horses from their respective sections over the course of the four-week Blenheim June Series. Winners emerged from eight sections, and each received a Romfh blue ribbon sash and a $250 gift certificate to Romfh Equestrian Apparel.
Professional hunter rider John French earned over 375 points for his outstanding rides throughout the series. As a result, he won the Romfh Leading Professional Hunter Rider Award for the second time this season. Samantha Sommers took home the Romfh Leading Adult Hunter Rider Award for her championships and top ribbons in the 18-35 age group during Blenheim June Classic I and II on Grand Affair, Illusion and Finest Hour.
Lindsay Maxwell took the June Blenheim series by storm. With her gorgeous hunters Technicolor, Rochambeau, Largesse, and Baranus, she earned the Romfh Leading 3’6″ Amateur Owner Hunter Rider Award and the Romfh Leading 3’3″ Amateur Owner Hunter Rider Award.
“I love that Blenheim EquiSports has these awards. It’s not something that’s done at a lot of other series and circuits, so it’s really special,” Maxwell said. “I love Romfh – I’m excited to have the gift certificates. It was really great competition here the last four weeks, so I’m thrilled and honored to have won these awards.”
With a final tally of 105.5 points, the Romfh Leading Children’s Hunter Rider Award went to Tate Betata. Riding Playlist, she topped the standings after winning several classes during Blenheim June Classic II and Blenheim Red, White & Blue Classic.
Accomplished junior rider Augusta Iwasaki earned two sets of Romfh Leading Hunter Rider titles. With over 400 points earned in the pony ring and 200 points in the 3’6″ Junior Hunters, Iwasaki was presented with the Romfh Leading Pony Hunter Rider Award and the Romfh Leading 3’6″ Junior Hunter Rider Award.
The Romfh Leading 3’3″ Junior Hunter Rider title ended in a two way tie between Olivia Welsh and Stella Wasserman with both riders accumulating 92 points for the win.
“It’s really exciting to win the Romfh award because this was only my third time ever doing the 3’3″ division,” Wasserman said. She added that it was good experience to compete against the older riders who have more miles at the 3’3″ height.
